Laura Packard is a health care advocate and stage 4 cancer survivor. She founded a non-profit, Health Care Voices, to organize adults with serious medical conditions for affordable comprehensive health care. Laura also serves as Executive Director of Get America Covered, promoting enrollment in Affordable Care Act health insurance coverage. She is a national co-chair of Health Care Voter. Laura serves as an advisor to Be A Hero, working on state-based solutions to expand access to health care.
Laura has appeared on MSNBC and local television, print and radio news across the country, her NowThis videos have received over 20 million views, her op eds have appeared in USA Today, US News & World Report and elsewhere, and her story has been covered nationally and internationally in publications from People to Newsweek to the Guardian.
She has been working on health care issues since 2009-10, when the AFL-CIO sent Laura to Arkansas to help get the Affordable Care Act passed. Now she is an advocate and supporter of people with pre-existing conditions across the country, including through her own non-profit, Health Care Voices. Laura is an award-winning digital consultant by trade, and has worked with campaigns and non-profits around the country, including multiple U.S. Senate and Congressional campaigns, and local candidates at all levels. She is a small business owner, and has spent a decade+ working at the intersection of technology and politics. She can speak from her personal experience on all facets of digital campaigning - from online fundraising to social media, to GOTV.
