Laura Dern Misses Eating Fried Chicken With David Lynch

Actor Laura Dern’s Monday-morning routine revolves around taking her 17-year-old daughter, Jaya, to school. Dern, 54, wakes up at 6:30 a.m. and makes an effort to not pick up her phone first thing. She meditates for a few minutes instead.

Dern and her kids—she also has a son, Ellery, 20, with her ex-husband, musician Ben Harper—have recently gotten into juicing, so they like to start the day with homemade celery or apple-ginger juice. If there’s time, there will be an egg scramble and some vegan sausage too.
