Opponents to drilling permits near an Arlington daycare are still pushing City Council to reject the proposal.

Ranjana Bhandari, a longtime resident of the city and the executive director of Liveable Arlington, told theit appeared someone was working on a tank battery at the time. Then, a strong odor filled the air, causing one staffer to get nauseated and another person to feel dizzy and lightheaded.

The TCEQ said: “On Dec. 14, an investigator arrived on site at 2:35 p.m. and conducted a survey around the area of the gas pad and the daycare center. No odors were noted during the investigation. No emissions were noted using an optical gas imaging camera from the pad facilities.” He said while he understands drilling can be associated with certain health problems, he hasn’t seen any evidence yet showing Total Energies' drill site is causing these problems for the daycare or the surrounding communities.

Other council members said they felt they had to approve the gas wells because of House Bill 40, a measure that took effect in 2015 that bars cities from implementing unreasonable regulations on drilling operations.

City Employees Press Adams For Work-From-Home Option After De Blasio RefusedWith COVID cases on the rise due to the omicron variant, city workers are hopeful that Mayor Adams will be more receptive to their calls for work-from-home rules after former Mayor de Blasio required workers to go back to the office. COVID19 doesn't care abt economy or that we're exhausted. The 'just let it rip thru communities & wreak economic havoc' plan ain't great either, as NYC is finding out. Shutdowns can be brief, done surgically, specifically, when & where needed, as in Eur. Swagger won't save us. City policy during omicron makes no sense for economic development or public health. Vast majority of City workers live in the 5 boros. They’re spending in city whether remote or in office. It’s private-sector commuters that add $ - and they’re not coming till omicron’s done He’s not and it’s spreading at LeFrak. I might be able to get through the week without getting if I never leave my desk, speak very little, and skip every meal (can’t take off the N95 even for a moment indoors).
