Tue, March 12th 2024 at 5:21 PMThe Lancaster Public Library is hosting a “Drag Queen Story Hour” packed with music, crafts, and stories for all ages on March 23rd .

The library’s embrace of the LGBTQ+ community has garnered criticism and backlash from local residents and even House Republican Leader Bryan Cutler. Cutler stated in a March 12th press release that “The Lancaster Public Library has lost its way,” and that, “Instead of remaining neutral in some of the most divisive issues of our time, the Lancaster Public Library has clearly thrown its doors wide open for one exclusive set of values – one that is not reflective of the majority of our community.”

The library responded to Cutler’s comments in a statement of their own. As an organization committed to advancing the visibility, acceptance, and equality of the LGBTQ+ community in Lancaster County, Lancaster Pride firmly believes in the power of events like Drag Story Hour to promote empathy, compassion, and tolerance within our community.
