A pandemic, a heartbreak, a job loss and a bottle of bourbon led to Scott Sawitz making a movie. Now, the Grayslake resident’s work is come to fruition as his film, “Save State,” is premiering at the Lake County Film Festival at 8 p.m. Nov. 4. The 13th Lake County Film Festival will be from Nov. 3-5 and 10-12 at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, in rooms A011, C105, D100, B222 and T332. Selected films will have additional screenings at The Gorton Center in Lake Forest.
” Film fest founder Nat Dykeman said there are 26 feature films and 80 short films being shown at the fest. Some of those short films will be shown in front of the feature films as well as 13 collections of short films being shown together. The films are submitted from all over, he said. There are some recognizable faces in the films too, including Bella Ramsey in “Villain” and Anthony Rapp in “Scrap.” “Even our music documentary … four out of five are pretty recognizable artists,” he said.
