A 62-year-old La Mesa man was killed in a head-on crash on state Route 78 in Ramona early Friday, California Highway Patrol officials said.The victim was in headed east in a Honda Civic when a Nissan Altima headed west veered into oncoming traffic, CHP officer Jared Grieshaber said.The two cars collided, and the La Mesa man died before he could be taken to a hospital, Grieshaber said. The 22-year-old driver of the Altima, a Ramona man, suffered minor injuries.
The highway was closed while officers investigated the crash, the CHP said. The road reopened just before 8 a.m.
