Video released by the Los Angeles Police Department shows officers pull the pilot from the wreckage just before a train smashes into it.

LOS ANGELES, California — Police officers rescued a pilot Sunday afternoon after his plane made a crash landing onto railroad tracks, pulling him to safety just seconds before a train crashed into the wreckage.of one of the officers who helped rescue the pilot.

The Cessna 172 crashed around 2:10 p.m. shortly after takeoff from Whiteman Airport in the San Fernando Valley community of Pacoima, the Federal Aviation Administration tells the Associated Press.
