MOSCOW - The Kremlin on Wednesday condemned as unacceptable an alleged U.S. ultimatum to Turkey designed to force it to cancel a deal to buy Russian S-400 surface-to-air missile systems and purchase U.S. Patriot missile systems instead. Moscow was responding to a CNBC report which said Washington had given Turkey just over two weeks to scrap the Russian deal and do an arms deal with the United States instead or risk severe penalties.

Turkey and the United States have been at odds on several fronts, including Ankara’s decision to buy the S-400s, which cannot be integrated into NATO systems. Washington says the Russian deal, if it goes ahead, would jeopardize Turkey’s role in building Lockheed Martin F-35 fighter jets.“We regard this extremely negatively.

Turkey’s defense minister said earlier on Wednesday that Ankara was preparing for potential U.S. sanctions over its purchase of the Russian missile system even though he said there was some improvement in talks with the United States over buying F-35 fighter jets.

'Extreme justice is often unjust.' - Racine (1664)

There is no STRATEGIC BENEFIT to the U.S. and/or American People in having 'chilled relations' with Russia- much less this stilted tension over 'missile deals'- when the Balance of Power between our nations is NEVER going to change. Get real, people.

How does it make 'any logical sense' that the U.S GOVERNMENT and People were justifiably 'celebrating and jumping for joy' for Perestroika a few decades ago... and, what, now all-of-a-sudden we are being CONDITIONED to 'uncritically adopt the completely opposite position?' Huh?

Given the NUCLEAR BALANCE OF POWER between Russia and the U.S., there is no 'bigger waste of military resources and Diplomatic effort' than in a 'reignited Cold War' over NOTHING. Think about it.

If Turkey insists on buying weapons from our enemies, let them do so WITHOUT NATO membership. Also, who gives a shit what a third-rate 'country' like russia is complaining about?

Dictators gonna dictate...

Turkey celebrates War of Independence's centenaryMay 19 is a milestone in Turkish history as it is the day when Mustafa Kemal arrived in Samsun from Istanbul to organise the war that saw the remnants of the Ottoman Empire transformed into modern Turkey four years later. 🤔 The real enemies were within once. I have always wondered what the Middle East would be like without the Young Turks. From what I can see, Turkey may face the same fate as Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria or Yemen if the Turks don't play ball.
