Kouri Richins , a Utah mother of three, who wrote a children's book about coping with grief after her husband's death and was later accused of fatally poisoning him, looks on during a hearing Wednesday, May 15, 2024, in Park City, Utah. Kouri Richins ' defense attorney said Richins was disappointed her preliminary hearing was pushed back to June 18 .It lasted about 10 to 15 minutes.
Wednesday's hearing was when prosecution planned to prove whether there was enough evidence in the case to take Kouri Richins to trial."It was not expected. We will continue to defend Kouri's rights," Richins' defense attorney, Skye Lazaro, said. "We were prepared to go forward today. Unfortunately and understandably, she's really disappointed. She has to wait another five weeks, given the length of time that she's been in jail.

We don't want to prolong this case any longer then is absolutely necessary," Lazaro said. The preliminary hearing is now continued to June18th. It could last up to three days, from June 18th to June 20th.
Richins, a Kamas child book author, was accused of killing her husband, Eric Richins, by giving him a lethal dose of fentanyl. After Eric's death, Kouri wrote a children's book on how to deal with grief.
