New York Mets ace Kodai Senga threw a live batting practice session on Monday, facing hitters for the first time since going down with a strained shoulder during spring training.

“Everything is going well,” Senga said. “I was able to check my velo with hitters in there versus bullpens. I was able to get up to the mid-90s. I’m pretty happy with that…Mets manager Carlos Mendoza was on hand to watch his ace throw, echoing those sentiments. “In terms of care, a lot more than I had been doing,” Senga said. “Everything is feeling solid and I’m doing really well.”
