Things began on Saturday night when, prior to the annual Festival of Remembrance at London's Royal Albert Hall, Charles and Queen Camilla gathered with other dignitaries at the Hall’s South Porch to unveil two new statues of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. The artworks were commissioned in 2021 as part of the Hall’s 150th anniversary, the Times reports, and were designed by Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust scholar, Poppy Field.
The following Festival of Remembrance event, an evening of ceremonies and songs, included performances from soul singer Mica Paris, former Britain’s Got Talent contestant Calum Scott, and teen opera singer Malakai Bayoh. On Sunday, the family reunited for the annual Remembrance ceremony in Whitehall, where a parade of veterans—including Charles and William, who have both served—passed the Cenotaph, a 103-year-old war memorial at which the service men and women laid poppies and wreaths.
