The 28-year-old driver of the Kia survived the ordeal and is recovering in a hospital, reports say.

LEAWOOD, Kansas — A Kia Forte got trapped under a tractor-trailer early Wednesday morning and was dragged eight miles before the truck’s driver was alerted by police, reports say.investigators believe Kia, driven by a 28-year-old Kansas City woman, slid through a red light at an exit ramp on Interstate 435 and got wedged in the right rear wheel assembly of the semi.

It was about 3:40 a.m. when the Missouri State Highway Patrol and police started getting calls from people who saw the truck dragging the Kia,Authorities finally were able to stop the truck at about 3:46 a.m., the Star reports, eight miles from where the crash occurred. The driver of the Kia was conscious and spoke with police after the truck was stopped. Leawood police tell KSHB the woman said she was in a lot of pain before she was taken to a hospital.
