director Melina Matsoukas has hired veteran producer Khaliah Neal to join her new production company De La Revolución Films as head of film and TV.
The appointment follows Matsoukas and her production banner signing a first-look feature film deal with MGM. Neal most recently served as a film and TV executive at Michael B Jordan’s production company Outlier Society, where she worked on the AMC series“Khaliah is the future. With an incredible eye for talented, diverse and artful voices, she has been able to develop and produce stories that push the culture forward.
The two-year pact for De La Revolucion Films reunites Matsoukas with MGM Film Group president Pamela Abdy, who collaborated onstar Daniel Kaluuya and big-screen newcomer Jodie Turner-Smith play Ohioans whose lives are upended after a deadly encounter with a bad cop. “Melina is one of the most exciting filmmakers working today and I’m so incredibly thrilled about this collaboration. We have a shared passion for telling stories that provoke thought and add meaningful commentary about the world we live in, and I’m very excited to begin the journey of building a bold, inclusive slate of voices and projects," Neal added in her own statement.
