Kenmore is SOS Shelter Pet of the Week

Over the past several weeks we have taken in several moms with puppies, which is pretty difficult in our shelter. We have 10 kennels in our shelter designated as “intake process.” It takes the average healthy dog with no issues about three weeks to process through and be made available for adoption.

With getting messages and email requests daily, we have to choose our cases carefully to keep the flow going as smoothly as possible. When we bring in a mom to be, or a mom with litters, that changes our time frame from weeks into months that we are down a kennel. A litter of five-week-old puppies came into SOS and because they showed up in a basket, we named them all after laundry detergents. We started them on milk, puppy food and vitamins.

People are also reading… Thankfully a foster from our great friends at WAG jumped in her vehicle to help us reunite mom with her babies. Within the hour, Kenmore was caught and was able to join her babies into rescue. Kenmore stayed with her puppies for three more weeks, until they were old enough to be properly separated from her. All are thriving.

Kenmore finalized her vetting, even though she had a new set of puppies in her kennel. Kenmore is now looking for her forever home. She now has her girlish figure back and enjoys running and playing. Kenmore is obsessed with human interaction and eager to please. Kenmore would make a great addition to any family, especially one with kids.
