Taylor Swift’s new pivot to politics has stoked the ire of the White House, which put out a press statement reiterating the Trump Administration’sof the Equality Act after Swift called for its support at Monday night’s MTV Video Music Awards. “If you say it on the street, that’s a knockout / If you put it in a tweet, that’s a cop-out,” Conway sang. “I love that! I mean, that basically is Washington in a nutshell.
Conway did not bother to specify what those “poison pills” were, but went on to claim that the bill could “harm other people.” Conservatives have been trying to spin the bill—an that would grant LGBTQ people protections in employment, housing, and education—as an assault on “religious freedom.”
