Like his mother, Keedron grew up singing in the church, and music factors heavily into his faith and identity. Both of his parents come from lineages of singers and his favorite artists, Kelontae Gavin and Jekayln Carr, are both Gospel powerhouses. “I’ve just always had a feeling for music and am always excited to hear it, it’s just really in me,” he says. Adds Johnetta, “Music is definitely a part of our lives and part of our meditation—it’s part of our hope.
After writing down the lyrics and forming base melody, Johnnetta instructed Keedron to meditate on the song as part of his daily devotion.
