TOKYO—When Michael Phelps won eight gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, his historic haul requiredLedecky is slated to race every individual freestyle distance from the sprint-focused 200-meters up to the pure endurance 1,500-meters—a total of four individual events—plus the women’s 4×200-meter freestyle relay. Over the course of eight days in Japan, she’ll race 6,200 meters.
No other swimmer in the world—male or female—has ever attempted such an audacious agenda at the Olympics. But with the unprecedented challenge comes an equally unprecedented scheduling headache. Ledecky has to find a way to both train and rest for a menu of races that normally call for different types of preparation.
That’s difficult when the combination of practice and competition keeps piling mileage on her over the course of a nine-day meet that also requires her to ramp down her activities. Based on her estimate of warm up and cool down swimming, Ledecky will cover about 10 miles more in the pools at the Tokyo Aquatic Center than the Olympic marathoners will run on the final day of the Games.
“More than anything, it’s just being mentally prepared for it and looking through the timeline and just making sure going into [each] session I have a plan for warm down and recovery,” said Ledecky in an interview.

Yes, that’s impressive if she succeeds. Almost on par with legend Mark Spitz who won 7 olympic gold medals in Munich 1972. And he set a world record time in all 7 of the events.
This is NO Joke! FYI-katieledecky is a Boss.🏊🏼♀️
