Greg James might just be in the bad books with the royal family right now, as Prince William and Kate Middleton had a"talk" with him about a joke he made about Princess Charlotte live on air.
Back in September, four-year-old Charlotte was photographed on her first day at school, when she started in Reception class at the same school as big brother Prince George, Thomas' in Battersea. The pictures show the young princess arriving with mum Kate Middleton and dad Prince William, greeting her new headteacher with a handshake.
When the photos came out, BBC Radio 1’s Greg James had a laugh on air about how fancy the school must be for pupils to shake hands with the teachers. "Who the hell shakes hands with their teacher on the first day?" Greg joked on air."They were not like that in my day. You were pleased if you got a smile," he said.Only William and Kate, who tuned in on their way back from the school run. Oops.
"I went: 'Oh God, no!' They'd heard me saying this school was so posh they had to shake hands with their teacher every day.Greg James met the Queen in 2013. Will he get another invite like that now? Who knows...Optimistically, the radio presenter doesn't think the hiccup will do too much to his reputation where the royals are concerned."I’m sure it’s all absolutely fine," he told the paper.
