Joe Musgrove goes seven innings, Turner does all the damage against him with two homers

Joe Musgrove was back to dealing Thursday night, seemingly on his way to assuring he would be pitching at Dodger Stadium again in the middle of July.right-hander does get selected to the National League team — and his 8-2 record and 2.25 ERA would seem to merit his inclusion — at least he won’t have to face Justin Turner.

Even with Manny Machado’s return to the lineup, the Padres could not capitalize on multiple opportunities to add onto an early lead Machado helped provide. Machado, who served as designated hitter, said after the game the ankle felt no different as the game went on.He also said, “I wish we could have given Joe the W.”

“It takes a run off the board for us,” manager Bob Melvin said. “And then they come back and score a run and tie the game right after that. There are different times of the game where it swings a little bit as far as the momentum goes. That was one.”
