related to illegally obtaining, receiving and disclosing classified information in 2010. He is accused of conspiring with Chelsea Manning, a former intelligence analyst in the U.S. Army, in a coordinated effort to compromise U.S. government computer networks, and obtain and publish classified documents related to national security.

Assange's lawyers will try to make their case later this week that the charges are politically motivated and that their client simply acted as a journalist and publisher.

Angie_RejoinEU I'm no Assange fan, but extradition should work both ways or not at all

And then he'll be pardoned.

Free Assange and Snowden and Bradley Manning. They are NOT criminals, they are heroes.

Good for assange. Deserves every day in jail for what he did.

MKSerumaga your friends from the 'land of the free' are harassing Asange any comments? And who do we report them to ... The Space Council? Becoz usmissionuganda certainly won't do.

1SnoozyQ He should want to come here, Donny has a great job in the Administration for him, maybe even a medal!!

Isn’t that what a good journalist does

Will stinky get pardoned? Or will he turn on Trump and bury him? Trump can pardon Assange at any point in the process, even now. I'm betting on a pardon because nothing can stop Trump now.

I say go lightly if he can help get the President in prison.

I don’t mind what he did, he released documents that show how twisted and immoral our “intelligence” community is.

Why? So Trump can offer him a pardon or lighter sentence to say that WikiLeaks' source for the DNC emails wasn't Russia? No thanks.

The US government wants to punish a journalist. 🤦🏽‍♂️

It would be very difficult to prove Assange illegally obtained the data.

And the President offered a pardon already. Don't leave off that important detail.

NicoletteErasms LOCK HIM UP LOCK HIM UP LOCK HIM UP LOCK HIM UP LOCK HIM UP LOCK HIM UP!!!!!

Hypothetically, is that something that he can be pardoned of?
