The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Washington Nationals 7-6 in extra innings on the road Wednesday night, improving to 23-12 on the season. The Nationals got off to a 1-0 lead with a Trey Lipscomb RBI single to center, scoring Joey Meneses. The Orioles would take a 2-1 lead after solo home runs from Anthony Santander and Gunnar Henderson . Colton Cowser would extend the lead to 3-1 with a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning.
Ryan Mountcastle would hit a go-ahead two-run home run to left center in the top of the 11th inning, giving Baltimore the 5-3 lead.The Nationals would tie it up at five in the bottom of the inning with a ground rule double from Ildemaro Vargas and a sacrifice fly from Jacob Young.Top of the 12th inning, Jorge Mateo would give the Orioles a 7-5 lead with an RBI single, scoring Jordan Westburg, and later scored on a wild pitch.
