If I lived in a small house & owed $2 trillion & my big mate who lived in a large mansion but owed $200 trillion came over & said 'I've got a great way for us to get rich', i'd look at him, then his house & say 'nope, no you don't, ta though'. We need green trade deals only.

Ain't gonna happen. Johnson needs this trade deal like no other. And if by generous you mean how many standards the UK has to relax, that would be on the mark.
We need to have a healthy trade balance with all countries and improve it with the USSR. American wanted the USSR isolated which is not in our trade interest.A USA trade deal will undoubtedly come with strings which may not be in either Europe's or our interests to align with.
Would any sane person believe anything Trump promised? Just ask his ex-wives or his former business associates.
