USC announced on Friday that its School of Cinematic Arts will remove an exhibit dedicated to John Wayne after student protests regarding the actor’s racist past. Wayne attended USC on a foot…

Wayne attended USC on a football scholarship in the 1920s and the exhibit honoring him was created in 2012. Controversy has been brewing for years over his 1971 interview within which he stated he believed in white supremacy and made derogatory comments about Black, Indigenous and LGBTQ+ people. But the outcry has become louder since the recent Black Lives Matter protests.

“Conversations about systemic racism in our cultural institutions along with the recent global, civil uprising by the Black Lives Matter Movement require that we consider the role our School can play as a change maker in promoting antiracist cultural values and experiences,” USC assistant dean of diversity and inclusion Evan Hughes said in a statement. “Therefore, it has been decided that the Wayne Exhibit will be removed.

Column: O.J. Simpson should not be celebrated on the USC campus

Cancel culture back at it.

Yet the left can forgive Justin Trudeau for his blatant racism. Ok.

It's amazing how stupid people get when they go to colleges like this clearly this school and its students haven't a clue about movie making or even the legacy of John Wayne they get some idea in their head and they believe that stead of Truth facts don't matter with this crew

This is from a major University. Ugggh.

I love John Wayne and his movies...my Dad and us kids watched them every weekend. I better buy my faves on Amazon...love those memories.

Elvis was a hero to most. But he never meant shit to me you see. Straight up racist that sucker was Simple and plain. Motherfuck him and John Wayne

The USC Brain Trust should replace the Wayne exhibit with a Hutu Theatrical Arts Extravaganza. That will solve the ‘problem’.

Walt Disney..? Next?.. leniriefenstahl...

I assume his space will be taken by someone more PC, who would that be please?

Just a suggestion: What about not being stupid? No? OK. Go on.

What kind of film students refuse to acknowledge geniuses like John Ford, d.w.griffith , John Wayne because they were not woke enough?!

Can’t these people make a distinction between John Wayne and Marion Michael Morrison ?

Is USC going to give back the money the Wayne family has donated to USC for the past 40 yrs? JohnDukeWayne

ShiaKapos

This is racist.

John Wayne will always be a legend. Screw these sissy snowflakes. I don't agree with his statements just as I didn't agree with stuff my grandpa said about race. Doesn't mean we should try to cancel a dead man's legacy.

It's like he once said 'Never apologize; it's a sign of weakness.'

Garbage people have no idea what an amazing man John Wayne really was. Our generation read books, this generation reads memes. That's why they are so dumb.

The man was born in 1907, of course he wasn't 'PC' enough for today, but he wasn't a racist. Is that a reason not to remember or honor a person who was so significant to cinema, esp. the western genre?

This is absolutely asinine. Shame on USC and those who condemn the dead.

They suck

Considering that he died decades ago, isn't it kinda privelage & selfish to go after what he said before any of us were born? Especially when he was quite progressive for his time? Oh, yeah, people need to find any reason they can to feel like a victim🤷‍♀️ 1stworldproblems

RockyMntnMike 👏👏

Seriously?

Time to Stop this Bullshit!

I love progress, keep going USC

Ignorants! This is the end of the film history. Students of what? Gestapo University? Shame on you, USC.

Good!

But they celebrate Farrakhan at usc

🤦‍♂️

Finally I would have assumed Hollywood would have addressed this ages ago.

Remove all the Disneyland parks since ol' Walt was anti-Semitic.

LOL

Six more counts of sex assault, battery filed against former USC gynecologist George TyndallThe Los Angeles County district attorney's office filed new counts against former USC gynecologist George Tyndall, who was arrested last year. The longtime physician was arrested in June 2019 and charged with 29 felonies based on allegations of sexual misconduct made by 16 women regarding incidents between 2009 and 2016. He looks exactly the way I would expect a gynecologist accused of sexual abuse to look, for whatever that is worth. A picture really does say 1,000 words
