John Krasinski has clarified the reasons he sold his fledging feel-good web series SomeGoodNews to CBS

was never meant to be a long term thing especially with all his other acting, writing and directing commitments. "I was only planning on doing [eight episodes] during quarantine. I have these other things that I’m going to be having to do very soon, likeHe added: "More than that, writing, directing and producing — all those things — with a couple of my friends was so much, and I knew it wouldn’t be sustainable with my prior commitments.

"I knew the two options were always going to be, I leave it off at eight in my office, which I would love to keep doing this show from my office forever, but it just wasn’t sustainable," Krasinski explained to Wilson. "I knew I would need a partner coming on." Krasinski told Wilson that it was "insane" having "one of the biggest news programs in America, CBS News, saying they want to make it part of their permanent news cycle." He added that he had "a lot of really fun stuff planned" for the series and will be involved as much as he can be. while stuck at home during the pandemic lockdowns.

Dang, people are so whiny and controlling. John Krasinski did nothing wrong

Well those people are morons. Leave him alone. He is a good guy.

These internet trolls are so ridiculous! So he was supposed to let the show just die after quarantine to keep it “honest”? When there’s a company offering him money to keep making it? That doesn’t make any sense! The internet is the place of maximum hypocrisy! It’s disgusting!

Indefensible

Same article again

He is a film actor, film director and the star of Amazon's Jack Ryan series. Of course he sold it. He is busy.

Those 8 episodes are awesome. It won't be the same.😊

I liked it because it seemed homemade and from the heart, now it doesn't. Also, some good news seems very two weeks ago! Very real even if bad news is what we all need to actually hear.

nah, he junk. out sellout

He has a right to make money.

who?

Nothing wrong with selling out for a paycheck. People these days… When did making a living become a politicalstatement?

So... he IS a sellout. johnkrasinski

HeyBrittany33

He makes his living entertaining people on camera. No one calls a baker a sellout when they sell a wedding cake.

Wow...he did sell out.

Money

fair play to him. worked hard to bring a little joy to people, why should he not make some money from it.

I'm just glad he put spread some positivity at a time when we desparately needed it.

The answer to all of your questions is money.

Don't care. If he wantedbonlyb8 episodes then fine, do the 8, say goodbye and move on. But sell it to a conglomerate, and then not even be involved? That sucked all the 'good' out of SGN. Bye John. Love your movies and stuff but you should have just let it go quietly

Everyone who is criticizing him for the move know damn well they would do the same if offered. Better he sells something that spreads positivity than sell something that makes the world worse.

He shouldn’t have to? He made a product for fun wth limited episodes, he has other shit to do? Cancel him!

“I like money and want more of it. Also I don’t give a fuck about you or your opinions - I’m married to Emily Blunt.” -Jon Krasinski

Disappointed. Having him start it made it seem so genuine and feel good. It's going to end up feeling more corporate or staged. The charm of it will probably shift. I'm sure others would have gladly taken the helm, instead of a network...keeping it more simple and pure.

Yeah, he doesn’t clarify shit.....it’s ultimately all about money....he doesn’t even pretend. What an ass.

Did he clarify if he's donating it to a good cause? Like the CBS employees who got laid off days after this very lucrative deal for him

Money

Phew. They need some good writers over there.

Incredible. People are too often celebrated for profiting off bad behaviour , yet when johnkrasinski uses his influence for only positivity and wants to expand the somegoodnews brand , he gets ripped apart? The USA is just not making any sense these days...

Don’t have to defend selling it unless the content changes

SomeBadNews

Money? Yep, money. Never even thought of watching it always seemed like contrived BS. Which it is.
