'Cops didn't like me filming the burning car so they came at me with batons. Hitting my bike,' the actor wrote on Twitter.

"Get out of here! Move! Get out of here," a police officer with a baton can be heard yelling in the video while apparently striking Cusack's bike."Alright, alright, I'm going," a voice that appears to be Cusack's is heard replying.

In other tweets, the 53-year-old actor, who was born in Evanston, Illinois, said he"was hit by pepper spray" and that it was"truly terrible out there."

It's getting tougher for celebrities to stay relevant. I'm guessing his agent told him he needed to 'Put yourself out there',

Maybe stop dressing like a Blackwater contractor?

I’m glad that the police of my city don’t treat celebrities above the law. He wouldn’t have been approached if there wasn’t a RIOT CURFEW enforcable by law already in effect

Stop calling it protests. RIOTS!

Too bad they didn't use them on his fat head.

Well of course they did, and you're not even black!

He's a lousy cinematographer. johncusack

and ?

I’m impressed Cusack! 👍

can't blame them

Ok dumbass, the situation is no longer a protest but a riot. If you participate in a riot you should be arrested. Have you seen the videos of police being dragged and attacked in Chicago?

Good! Did he get a deserved beating for helping incite violence?

I’m quite positive Chicago PD wasn’t in a position to notice a “celebrity” as they are literally being dragged through the streets.

I left this tool-bag back in 2012.
