Joe Biden issues 11 proclamations, his highest daily tally so far

issued 11 proclamations on April 30Proclamations are statements that serve a variety of functions, such as issuing a directive, acknowledging an event or person, or expounding a policy.Friday's proclamations, which came as Biden marked the end to his first 100 days in office, covered a range of issues and recognized that May is set aside for the celebration of several groups of Americans.

Biden's proclamations also honored other events, such as Law Day, which falls on Saturday, and National Teacher Appreciation Week for 2021, which begins on Monday, May 3. Proclamations recognizing these events are considered ceremonial."As the proud husband of an educator who continues, as First Lady, to teach writing at a community college, I have seen firsthand the dedication, selflessness, and vision of our Nation's educators," the proclamation stated.

Biden's proclamation prohibited noncitizens from entering the U.S. if they have been physically present in India"during the 14‑day period preceding their entry or attempted entry" into the country. The order contained a significant list of exemptions, however, and will be reviewed in 30 days.
