President Joe Biden was met with a round of applause after he mocked the Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert during this year's White House Correspondents' Dinner.The president gave a speech at the annual event for journalists, politicians and celebrities, which celebrates political journalists and raises money for scholarships, and was founded in 1914 and has held a dinner most years since 1921.
Newsweek contacted representatives for Boebert by email outside of business hours to comment on this story.Elsewhere during the speech the Democrat mocked his political rival Donald Trump.'Yes, age is an issue. I'm a grown man, running against a 6-year-old,' the Democrat said at the event.He later added: 'Age is the only thing we have in common. My vice president actually endorses me,' referencing Trump's tense relationship with former vice president Mike Pence.
