After a series of major defeats, many Biden supporters and moderate Democrats have urged Sanders to drop out of the race and allow the former vice president to work toward unifying the party. But as the coronavirus pandemic has taken center stage and the Democratic nomination process has faded from national attention, Sanders has shifted his campaign to spread awareness about the outbreak and raise funds for those negatively affected by the crisis.
Most political analysts see it as next to impossible for Sanders to come back now and win the party's nomination. Nearly all recent national polls show him trailing Biden by double digits, with surveys of individual states yet to vote in the primary process presenting a similarly dismal outlook for the senator.
Last week, Sanders was asked by a CNN reporter about how long he planned to stay in the race. The candidate responded with frustration, as he wanted to discuss the response to the coronavirus pandemic. "You have to stop with this. I'm dealing with a f---ing global crisis. You know? We're dealing with it, and you're asking me these questions," Sanders said.
"Right now, I'm trying to do my best to make sure that we don't have an economic meltdown and that people don't die," he added."Is that enough to you? To keep you busy for today?"
So he's a coward.
You can always tell when someone isn't happy for you.
We have. We got bigger things to worry about. We stick with Biden and move on.
Why should he. All is does is give Trump more on both candidates. There is not an undecided person at this point. let’s be honest it is likely neither candidate is likely to live a full term. the VP pick is actually more important since it is likely they will be president
Bernie needs to bail and support Biden. I would say the same thing (swtching the names) if Biden was on the losing end of his campaign. VoteBlueNoMatterWho
Good! He’s right! No more debates JoeBiden and BernieSanders
Biden must be afraid. He knows how he appears when interviewed (not good) and he know Bernie has been very vocal about what needs to be done and even collecting money from supporters for charities. Wouldn't look good when brought up in a debate, would it Joe?
Why is this news. What this pandemic has shown is that all politicians have failed this country and its people. Wish they would all stfu and work and save the country.
Reaction from Sander’s campaign was swift:
Bernie is done, join the rest of the Democrats & unite the party already.
Tulsi Gabbard could make them both go away by wiggling her nose.
