Jenna Fischer Reveals How The Office Finale Was Almost Way Less Sentimental

Jenna Fischer reveals how the finale of The Office could have lost one of its most sentimental moments. Fischer played Pam Beesly, one half of the will-they-won't they relationship with John Krasinski's Jim Halpert, on the NBC sitcom. While The Office is renowned for its comedy, it's almost just as revered for its heartfelt moments and relationships.

For example, one of the most emotional moments for the audience came in season 3, when Michael Scott showed up to Pam's art show. It was the end of the night and no one else had come, so when Michael appeared and showed genuine pride in Pam's work, it was an instance of tearful, friendly affection between them. Michael even purchased the painting Pam had made of their office building and hung it up outside his office door.

I was like, 'Listen, you cannot destroy Pam's painting. You can't do it. It's the heartbeat of the show. It's on the wall. It's her relationship with Michael. It's hope. It's so many things you don't understand. You can't make this a gag.' And Paul Lieberstein was like, 'I think it's funny. What are you talking about?' And it was a battle.Fischer's call for the storyline to be deleted was, in the end, the right decision.

Ever since the show's conclusion, viewers have been wondering whether or not The Office will get a reboot. There has been a common pattern as of late for popular television shows to get some kind of a revival, such as Netflix's Fuller House and Paramount+'s iCarly, which has only caused viewers to advocate more for NBC's comedy series to get the same kind of treatment.
