TOKYO - Nearly a decade after the Fukushima nuclear disaster, Japan’s government has decided to release over one million tonnes of contaminated water into the sea, media reports said on Friday, with a formal announcement expected to be made later this month.
On Friday, Japan’s industry minister Hiroshi Kajiyama said no decision had been made on the disposal of the water yet, but the government aims to make one quickly. It has said it plans to remove all radioactive particles from the water except tritium, an isotope of hydrogen that is hard to separate and is considered to be relatively harmless.
Last week, Japanese fish industry representatives urged the government to not allow the release of contaminated water from the Fukushima plant into the sea, saying it would undo years of work to restore their reputation.
No don’t do it
wilmagrayson1 Is this the next disaster?
Incentive based birth control now.
Beyond not cool- the japanese should be the 1st very upset people. For personal health reasons - many Japanese enjoy a lot of seafood (reality, I have relatives, not just saying that), so dumping all that into the ocean, no matter what their government says, it’s not good.
This is the beginning of the end. Is anyone objecting
I haven't explained it. Because it is treated water.
Godzilla in the making.
❌ radioactive wastewater ⭕️ treated water (tritium water) Why do you complain only to Japan? NuclearPowerPlant Annual Tritium emissions from nuclear facilities around the world
You would think that they had learned exactly what radiation can really do ; years after WW2!!!!! Now what , glow in the dark fish!!!!!
😲
世界を敵に回したな。 少なくとも環太平洋諸国を。
That seems irresponsible
What now
What about Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Are they still radioactive? The Atomic bombings of two entire cities was horrific. I can't remember which country bombed them, but I bet it was one of the communist ones.
Loaded irony-,Speak to Bristol University. Try making diamond batteries with it?
Why?
Can they at least wait until 2021.
Oh hell no
i dont think this is a great idea
What could possibly go wrong? RhetoricalQuestionFriday
