Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida says “a basic agreement” has been reached with the U.S. on banning the U.S. military from leaving base grounds, a step to curb the spread of coronavirus infections.

Okinawa, a southwestern group of islands that houses most of the 55,000 U.S. troops in Japan, is among the three prefectures where new restrictions to curb the spread of infections kicked in Sunday.

Government-backed restrictions also went into effect in Yamaguchi Prefecture, where Iwakuni base is located, and nearby Hiroshima. The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, which documents the U.S. atomic bombing of Japan at the end of World War II, and Hiroshima Castle are both closed to visitors. Japan has never had a lockdown but it has undergone periods of varying levels of restrictions, including school closures and event cancellations.

It's only three prefectures in Japan who announced Quasi-State of Emergency where US bases stand. Most American military personnel didn't wear masks at restaurants and bars outside of the bases and affected the COVID infection status.

and rapes

It is mind-boggling the number of top athletes who have suffered from a heart problem since the injections

OMG Are you serious? I feel for my Marine brothers in Okinawa! Aaaaagh!!

When cases were surging in Tokyo we already hadn’t been able to go for a year. How odd they place blame on service members. So happy I’m not in Japan anymore for this very reason.

Could this mean Japan is accusing US Army of being carrier of covid? As much that sounds may alarming, but it also raises one's curiosity as why surges in covid cases in Japan only happens close to US Army bases.

I know so many people in Tokyo who will be happy to hear this. Everyone knows to stay away from American soldiers off base because they are wild. I've personally seen Yokosuka soldiers drunk on the train early Sunday morning after a night out trying to start fights with strangers

how did it get there in the first place....hope the japs have taken steps to test, record, contact tracing these foreigners that shouldnt be there in the first place

Kick them out

Good to know.

Aww...they can't leave even if they're triple-vaxxed and wearing a cloth mask, both which do nothing to curb the spread anymore...awwwww.

All the sexpats will get mad. 😎

Japan can't defend herself without American bases

The unemployment rate fell to 3.9% from 4.2% in November. Change how you report this - Establishment Survey is clearly having issues with data collection under covid. They've consistently undercounted jobs this entire year and needed to revise the numbers upward as more data trickles in. 3.9% Unemployment is incredible Only in Republican states, the Democrats are parasiting off Republican numbers
