James Wan Developing A "Darker Reimagining" Of A Classic 60s Monster Show 2 Years After Rob Zombie Remake

The Munsters is a monster series about the adventures of a group of friendly monsters as they go on life journeys and try to understand how to fit into society.

Will This Form of The Munsters Adaptation Work? In a number of ways, an adaptation of The Munsters in a more conventional horror style seems odd. The whole concept of the original show was to subvert horror monster film and TV tropes in order to create a lighter, sitcom version of magnanimous monster and benevolent beasts. By making The Munsters into a darker retelling, 1313 takes a trope-upending premise and then seemingly returns the series back to the original form of which it is subverting.
