Organizations in Jackson, Mississippi, are asking for help from other states as the water crisis dries up resources.

Jackson has seen more than 10% of its residents leave in the past decade.

Our research shows over 6,000 out of nearly 9,000 businesses have left the city in that same time period. Fredick Womack runs Operation Good. He said as national attention has shifted to other cities or issues, local organizations are feeling the strain and aren’t sure if their resources can sustain five to ten more years of water outages.

“People rely very heavily on organizations like ours, Operation Good, to provide them with water and basic necessities, becauseMembers of Progressive Morningstar Baptist Church move cases of water after a Sunday morning service in Jackson, Mississippi, on September 4, 2022.AFP via Getty Images“Send drinking water. Continue to send drinking water. You can send it to the city or county. There are so many areas where we need those resources for these people. It’s an ongoing process,” Jones said.

It’s likely more cities may need help also, because the American Society of Civil Engineers grades the United States a “C-” overall in drinking water systems, saying many are due for repair or replacement. This could mean seeing a greater strain on resources nationwide.

Why cant blacks maintain infrastructure

These people literally blamed whites for their failings despite blacks having run Mississippi for nearly an entire lifetime F**k um I have no sympathy for them. They can get their shit together or don't. But we need to stop helping them

How does this happen?

One look at the demographics confirm my suspicion

Only other place this bad I can think of is some places in Flint, MI, and California.

W T H .....send the Army Corps in there - do SOMETHING to FIX the problem. This is ridiculous !!!

We wuz engineers n sheet

USA 1

It is so satisfying knowing that the US empire is dying.

Why is this s thing? The Federal Government has no emergency funds that can be used to get their citizens WATER?! Serious question from Canada?

Thanks JoelWBerry I really like this world you want.

It will be forever. The new demographics cannot maintain what White people created.

Not to worry,I hear they have some new charging stations for Ev’s.

Feel like this could have easily been avoided. Additionally, had we not sent (and still sending more) of our money to fight a proxy war, surely there would of been enough funds to address this problem.

How much are we sending to Ukraine? Right we could be rebuilding American infrastructure

At some point people need to start voting differently. Your status quo Democrat run cities have been failing you for quite some time.

Moving backwards into the third world.

Democrats run this for decades

These things happen when animals run cities

All this single-use plastic, just because some cities apparently neglected routine repairs & maintenance and no one called them to task until the whole thing broke. Where are the environmentalists on this?

Can't they do it gradually? Why the abrupt halt in order to upgrade infrastructure in these southern cities?

How much would it cost to fix it and why did we send that money to Ukraine?

Why not?

It would be interesting to see the make up of city council

lib city

But. But. Billions to Ukraine ..

They’ve been under black democrat leadership for decades. You get what you vote for

And America sends BILLIONS to Ukraine...

But the US government can find 90 million for an HBCU to “help” the DoD

Can't they do it gradually? Why the abrupt halt in order to upgrade infrastructure in all those southern cities?

Why do they have to be without water to upgrade infrastructure in all those southern cities?

And we’re busy spending over a 100 billions in funds & $40+ billion in weaponry to Ukraine Tell me how that makes sense?!

Why would they not bring water from the ocean, desalinate and have water !!? Why should peoplego without water. And where is all that extra water from climate warming (melted glaciers)!

RINO and Dem politicians getting rich and not helping the people who elected them.

They said, 'get rid of the white people, it will be easy.' So they got rid of the white people. It's not easy.

🤪😆🤪

A trillion $ in 'infrastructure' spending and still nothing works.

The online scrambling to disperse responsibility, starts, NOW...

Who has been in charge of the water system?

We wuz kangz!

Incompetent leadership and mismanagement of city resources.

USA!!

Jackson is 82.8% black according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Another black city controlled by blacks for over 50 years that has allowed its infrastructure to fail. They cannot sustain themselves on their tax revenue just like Flint and Detroit.

That I do not understand United States government can help Mississippi with infrastructure to dig up old piping lay new piping for water distribution remember the cities in Michigan that had the lead in the water it’s no different for people in Mississippi!

Have they tried blocking traffic and looting GameStop/liquor stores? That’s usually a solid response to a crisis

If we print more money to send to Ukraine surely this will be resolved

Water is disgusting anyway.

Im glad we sent all that money to Ukraine!

I thought Jackson was the Wakanda of Mississippi, where are all the smart, talented engineers & policy makers of that wonderful city?

Democrat leadership

But Ukraine 😂🤡

Send more💰to Ukraine.

What did Biden do ?

Black maternal deaths and disparities increase in MississippiDeaths from pregnancy complications have become more prevalent in Mississippi, and racial disparities in the health of those who give birth have widened in recent years, according to a report released by the state’s health department. 'Those who give birth' 🤡 The USA already has the highest maternal death rate in the developed world but Republican politicians are beyond the pale when it comes to attacks on women's human rights. Pure evil in my view. Why anyone of sound mind would continue to live in a state that is dead last at everything good and always number 1 at everything bad? It is the swamp ass of florida and they barely made slavery illegal a few years ago. I wont even spell mspi cause that isnt even worth my time

Future of Mississippi ballot initiative in hands of Senate Chairman PolkIt will take a constitutional resolution to amend the state Constitution to revive the initiative process. A bill to restore Mississippi voters' right to ballot initiatives faces a Tuesday deadline. Don’t vote to re-elect any legislator that votes against a reasonable initiative proposal. In any democracy the people must have a right to initiative and it should be a reasonable process, not an impossible one!
