The upcoming Presidential primary will likely pit Donald Trump’s and J. D. Vance’s rural white nationalism against the “anti-woke” educational crusade led by figures like Ron DeSantis, jaycaspiankang writes.

These spaces might draw the attention of the media—Princeton, New Jersey, and Palo Alto, California, have been the focal points of countless education fights not so much because they have some unique, oracular power over the future of education but because they are filled with rich people with a great deal of influence—but that doesn’t necessarily translate into actual votes come election time. There’s a reason that no Presidential candidate in my lifetime, other than George W.

More than anything, “anti-wokeness” has created a smoke screen of supposed cultural principles that allow the establishment to feel comfortable with a candidate who likely will protect business interests without inviting the potential chaos of a Trump Presidency. DeSantis is the candidate for people who would rather talk about drag shows that they’ll never attend than question whether Norfolk Southern should have to pay large settlements to every resident of East Palestine.

What should concern DeSantis and his fellow-crusaders is that what Trump and Vance are tapping into is much more real. The people of East Palestine are powerless against corporate interests, not because they’re “a little too white,” as Vance suggested, but because they are poor. The past seven years have taught us that the contradictions of the G.O.P.’s populism do not matter to its core constituents.

jaycaspiankang Wokeness If radicalized GOPQ really knew meaning of woke, they will stop complimenting Democrats with this so-called epithet, which means awakened ones to rise of racism, injustice, for their ignorant base it's just a word, or IS

jaycaspiankang Why the attempt to qualify? They appeal to the STUPID! It’s the emergence/rise of the stupid among us.

jaycaspiankang And they'll lose. Again. I'm in West Michigan, not exactly a bastion of liberalism. People are SICK of this b.s.

jaycaspiankang Hillbillies love those guys.

jaycaspiankang yes. by doing racism. it never fails.

jaycaspiankang They’re all toxic.

jaycaspiankang Aren’t they all just fascists some with Christian undertones? It’s frustrating that these guys are reported like they have typical political differences when in fact they all are dangers to democracy.

jaycaspiankang What fun!

jaycaspiankang Good thing there's not enough rural Whites to win an election.

jaycaspiankang Translation: all GQP will just repeat Lies over and over and over

jaycaspiankang Where did you get the idea these are two separate things? A large part of the “anti woke” agenda is cemented in white Christian nationalism, why else would they be rabidly against things like African American AP curriculum

jaycaspiankang From WilliamShakespeare's “RomeoandJuliet,” 1592. Mercutio: “I am hurt. A plague o' both your houses! I am sped. Is he gone, and hath nothing?”

jaycaspiankang I can’t wait!

jaycaspiankang I see no difference….. this would lead one to believe that this anti woke bs isn’t a dog whistle. Do better .

jaycaspiankang Such bleak options!

jaycaspiankang they'll get along fine. they share one important characteristic: they both have no meaningful goals. so everything can be negotiated.

jaycaspiankang That will no doubt be an elevated conversation.

jaycaspiankang LOL. What’s the difference?
