Ivanka Trump has lost a bid to delay her testimony in the New York civil fraud case against her father, former President Donald Trump.
A higher court delivered the verdict Thursday night, shortly after Ivanka Trump said she would face"undue hardship" by testifying during a"school week."New York Judge Arthur Engoron had previously ordered her to testify, which she tried to block until a New York appellate court could hear her appeal. The appeal also sought to pause the entire trial against her father and family's business.
Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, the former president's eldest sons and Ivanka's brothers, testified on Thursday. All three children have executive vice president roles at the Trump Organization. Donald Trump is expected to testify next week. They were all originally defendants in the case, but Ivanka Trump successfully had her name dropped from it after arguing relevant statutes of limitations had lapsed. Still, she is poised to testify in the trial next week after Thursday night's decision. The civil suit filed by New York Attorney General Letitia James surrounds Donald Trump's, Donald Trump Jr.'s, and Eric Trump's business dealings.
Donald Trump and his sons deny any wrongdoing in the case, with Donald Trump Jr. showing an unbothered approach during his court testimony and Eric Trump seeking to distance himself from his father's financial statements in the case.
