"Can you believe she did not even examine me?" Danielle said of one doctor."She told me that my charts had me listed as a hypochondriac, and the doctor instructed not to prescribe any meds. I couldn't believe it! Safe to say I never went back to that doctor."View this photo on Instagram"I met one doctor who validated my experience and actually took the time to explain why I wasn't getting many answers and what I could do to stop it.
But Danielle's story didn't end there. If she had such a hard time getting her diagnosis, she knew there had to be other women out there who were struggling too. She began posting TikToks about everything from BV warning signs to period tips and advice for UTIs.
They weren't listening to her, giving her a physical exam, or smelling her either. BV is easily diagnosable by smell during a internal exam from your GYN, or by your partner before oral sex and refusing to continue because of it.
sadly, this is all too common with black women-classical presentation/easy treatment (anti fungal gel) however, black womens symptoms are frequently ignored by providers. I hope these videos will empower women of color to not stop until they get answers. Women know their bodies
