It's Cinco de Mayo! Don't let the rain ruin your Sunday.

Waking up this morning with temperatures in the low-to-mid 60s under partly cloudy skies. There are a few areas around Palatka and Valdosta experiencing patchy fog, which should burn off after sunrise at 6:39 a.m. Winds are light.

For your Cinco de Mayo Sunday, temperatures will warm up quickly into the 80s by 10 a.m. as the rain chances increase, as well. Scattered rain and the possibility of isolated thunderstorms will be something we’re watching throughout the afternoon as the East Coast sea breeze and the Gulf Coast sea breeze converge inland near Hwy 301 and I-75.

Tonight: rain will decrease as we get closer to sunset at 8:07 p.m. leaving behind partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the mid-to-upper 70s. Overnight lows will stay in the 60s with another opportunity for patchy fog to form, especially in the areas that experienced rain. More rain on Monday before our temperatures turn hot, hot, hot with near-record highs in the 90s forecasted for Tuesday through Friday before the next cold front hits the area.Michelle McCormick joined News4Jax in December 2023 and in February 2024, she happily accepted the opportunity to officially join the News4Jax Weather Authority team as the weekend morning meteorologist. She is a member of both the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association.
