SAN FRANCISCO — The recent outbreak of lung injuries linked to vaping has highlighted the dangers of e-cigarettes. A new study puts the warning in big, red letters.
The conclusions come from the first study on the long-term health impacts of vaping on a representative adult population, conducted by the University of California-San Francisco and published Monday in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine. “We concluded that e-cigarettes are harmful on their own, and the effects are independent of smoking conventional tobacco,’’ said lead author Stanton Glantz, a UCSF professor of medicine and director of the school’s Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education.
The research found the rate of chronic pulmonary illnesses among current vapers is 1.3 times higher than for non-users, compared to 2.6 times higher for smokers and more than three times as high for those who do both.

Compared to what? Of course if ever smoked at all, you're at high risk of lung problems than a never smoker. It has nothing to do with electronic cigarettes. The same goes for pharmacy nicotine products.
NOTHING is safe. Chantix is APPROVED & can make you kill yourself. Your study is Dual-use only Cross-sectional data based(3 yrs) Here is a 3.5 year PROSPECTIVE study of NEVER smokers who vape reg. (Dr. Polosa) ZERO measurable damage to their lungs
Well no shit
And I got ripped apart months ago, by smokers, saying the same thing 🤔 All because when vaping first came out years ago, they misled them by saying that it is safer. How does this make any sense? You are still 'smoking.'
No one said vaping is 100% 'safe'- that's a straw man. If you switch from smoking to vaping it's likely to be positive as you will be inhaling fewer toxicants, at significantly lower doses. Why is the reporter blind to that? GroundhogDay
GEE! YOU THINK?
Look anything in your lungs especially smoke or vaping nicotine is not safe or healthy
