President Joe Biden seemed to confirm Wednesday that Hamas terrorists beheaded children in their attacks in Israel this weekend.

News reports swirled this week about Hamas beheading children and adults in their attacks on Israeli border towns. Those claims originally cited Israel Defense Forces members but were questioned online.Biden, however, appeared to confirm those reports while speaking to Jewish community leaders at the White House on Wednesday.

"I've been doing this a long time. I never really thought that I would see and have confirmed pictures of terrorists beheading children. I never thought I'd ever, anyway," the president said before noting that there"are countries in the region that are trying to be of some help, including Arab nations."

The president had previously condemned the"unadulterated evil" carried out by Hamas and referred to the attacks as the"deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust." The Washington Examiner asked National Security Council spokesman John Kirby about the president's comments afterward, and while Kirby said that he had not personally seen the photos confirming the beheadings, he added that if Biden said that, then it was true.
