Four days in, flu symptoms, feel feverish but the thermometer says I'm fine. No cough no respiratory distress. If I sprinkle sugar and salt on the table and taste it with my finger, I can't taste either. I can smell very strong smells, like chlorine in a bottle.

Many infections induce a loss of smell and taste. Not surprising if this one does too.

No temp or cough - but 100% loss of smell since Sunday. No nasal congestion but a headache & dry sore throat. Aching muscles & very tired. Unable to get tested in the UK.

Makes sense because seems the major factor isucous creation ... ‘regular’ colds, sinus, allergies usually result in ‘stuffy nose’ blocking the senses..

Yeah, but ... I noticed back in high school that I’d lose taste (related to smell) when I’d get a cold. That’s why I’d crave spicy Mexican food. So it may happen with COVID-19, it’s certainly not a symptom that’s *exclusive* to it.

Notting to do with congestion. It is an Early sign “losing sense of smell”. Also might be a sign of mutation of the Virus just like in Italy. First patient came directly from Wuhan to US, no mutation? Now it is mutating just like in Europe Find the right scientists

YES! This was my husband’s early sign 3 days before anything else! He was on his way to work when I read about this as a symptom and I texted him and was able to stop him before he went into work. That same night he got a fever and 2 days later, a positive test.

My wife confirmed positive. I'm presumptive positive. Both of us COMPLETELY lost taste/smell. After 17 days, I'd say I'm about back to 50%. No congestion. Clear breath. 0.0% smell. Weirdest symptom.

A woman in my state has covid-19 and her only symptom is loss of smell. It is scientific evidence and it was proven. There is also a German study.
