Two days later, Amari became the fourth child to die of abuse in Fort Worth this year, a city that police say sees an average of two such cases in a year. The hospital that treated him said nine children were admitted for abuse-related injuries between March 17 and the days following Amari’s death.
Amari’s death was ruled a homicide, but his case is still under investigation and no arrests have been made. His grandmother, Kiceshi Iaymon, blames his foster parents for Amari’s death, but they deny harming him. Deondrick Foley, one of his caregivers, said he doesn’t know how Amari was injured. Foley said he saw the injuries after picking Amari up from daycare, and then took him to the hospital.

Locking children in cages is child abuse. We know who does that.
Unfortunately this is true in NZ too especially over lockdown. The children are stuck in close proximity with their abusers having no break at school, that coupled with money hardships caused by the covid19. It effects the vulnerable first.

This is another tragic example of how ineffective lockdowns are causing more harm than good. We need to be strategic in our fight against Covid19 in order to prevent the cure from being worse than the cause.
Don't even need to read this story. Common sense tells us the amount of abuse has increased while the amount of reports have decreased - children lack a venue to present signs of abuse. Abusive/out of work adults are home with them more.

The numbers are probably low due to the fact that the children don’t have contact with typical professional reporters of abuse.
Being confined in homes with abusers themselves potentially... This is real & needs to be addressed. By family support groups within local circles. Teachers, neighbors & friends & other family know the truth in many cases. Hardship & close spaces won't help it get better.
