Mao didn't set foot on Taiwan. So. No. It's not disputed. China thinks they can own what they want. It's up to the world to stop them.

Taiwan’s sovereignty is disputed by Beijing the same way Ukraine’s sovereignty is disputed by Moscow. Whether there has been common control at some point in the past is irrelevant TaiwanIsaCountry

The real question is whether 🇺🇸 can accept losing its leadership status to 🇨🇳 . Let’s be frank, 🇹🇼 is a ‘pawn’ for America’s econ & security interests. 🇨🇳 taking over 🇹🇼 by force & 🇺🇸 inaction will forever change Geopolitics in AsiaPac w 🇨🇳 taking over as new Superpower.

(1) How much longer will the internally divided USA have the appetite to risk nuclear MAD trying to defend Taiwan? (2) We'll be living in a very different world if China seizes Taiwan by force and the USA does nothing? (3) What would be the created casus belli for PRC invasion?

No, it won't cause a war between China and America. And the people of Taiwan, unlike expectations in the West, will not fight to the death or anything like that. The cultural and racial connection is very strong, despite the political schism

China orders mass testing in Wuhan as COVID outbreak spreadsChina suspended flights and trains, canceled professional basketball league games and announced mass coronavirus testing in Wuhan on Tuesday as widening outbreaks of the delta variant reached the city where the disease was first detected in late 2019. While the total number of cases is still in the hundreds, they are far more widespread than anything China has dealt with since the initial outbreak that devastated Wuhan in early 2020 and over time spread to the rest of the country and the world. China has not eliminated but largely curbed COVID-19 at home with quick lockdowns and mass testing to isolate infected people whenever new cases pop up.
