An investigation has been opened after police received a call about a driver feeling unsafe during a stop by an unmarked police vehicle in Roy.
The incident happened Wednesday at 11 p.m. when a car claimed they were followed from West Haven and then stopped by unidentified officers in an unmarked white Ford Explorer near 4800 South and 3500 West. Two girls in the car said they felt unsafe and raised concerns that the stop might have been by someone impersonating a police officer.Further investigation showed the stop was by a Clinton City police officer in an unmarked vehicle, confirmed by the Clinton City Police Department and Davis County dispatch records.According to a news release on Thursday, the officer involved was assigned to the U.S.
"The Clinton City Police Department takes this complaint and all allegations against department personnel with the utmost seriousness," a spokesperson for the department said. They said the investigation will look at the traffic stop and see if any rules were broken. The department claimed in their post that they understood the importance of the issue and promised they'll take appropriate action following the investigation.
