Syrian government helicopter bursts in flames after it was shot by a missile in Idlib province, Syria, Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020. Syrian rebels shot down a government helicopter Tuesday in the country's northwest where Syrian troops are on the offensive in the last rebel stronghold.
With backing from Russia, Syrian troops have been on the offensive for weeks in the last rebel stronghold in Idlib province and parts of nearby Aleppo, triggering a humanitarian crisis with some 700,000 people fleeing their homes and surging north toward the Turkish border. Turkey, which is a main backer of the Syrian opposition, has sent hundreds of vehicles into Idlib apparently to prevent government forces from reaching the border areas with Turkey. The country is home to some 3.6 million Syrian refugees and has concerns of more flowing into its border.
“We have given the necessary response to the Syrian side at the highest level,” Erdogan said. “They found the trouble they were looking for in Idlib. But it’s not enough. It will continue.” Associated Press footage showed the helicopter spiraling from the sky and breaking up as fire poured from the fuselage, followed by the wreckage on fire after crashing.
The Observatory also reported that Syrian troops have secured the highway that links southern Syria with the northern city of Aleppo.
You misspelled ' rebels' who are in fact West funded foreign terrorists
I read it was shot down by a Turkish F-16. Unverified.
TERRORISTS, not 'rebels'
Russia stepped in 2015 militarily and fully explain why. But you won’t give US citizens that perspective of course.
I see you’re still using “Syrian rebels” for the groups affiliated with alqaeda along with paid mercenaries from other countries with the aim of regime change. Started by Obama handlers. Continue.
Mercenary terrorists bussed in by the imperialist US, not rebels.
They are terrorists . Not rebels .
Al-Queda and NATO together at last!
NATO protecting the terrorists? No wonder NATO stands for a North Atlantic Terrorists Organisation 🤔
The msm will never correctly identify the 'rebels' in Idlib for who they really are: Al-Qaeda. Idlib is in fact an Al-Qaeda fiefdom originally set up by the US & its Allies. Now protected & supplied by Turkey.
DDERSS Hey you misspelled Turkey.
So Associated Press continues to serve as an obedient propaganda tool for StateDept by calling Al-Qaeda/clones' terrorists 'rebels'. (Idlib is the biggest Al-Qaeda stronghold the terrorists have ever had even as per Pentagon generals.)
hmm very moderated rebels, according to western NATO allies? 🤔 saraqib idlib syria
Jihadi terrorists backed by Turkey..there are no rebels in Syria..
So ISIS and Al-Qaeda are now 'rebels'?
Rebel = Al Qaeda - also how did Al Qaeda shoot down the SAA Copter? Did NATO 'ally' provide them with SAMS? Is Al Qaeda going to be shooting down airliners next? & finally WHY is Trump opposed to SAA & Russia wiping out Al Qaeda in Idlib?
Russia almost has complete control over Syria now. Yes, Turkey is aiding Russia at the attack. But I think Turkey is trying to gain a foothold so Syria won't disappear under the Kremlin. It used to be part of the Ottoman after all. Poor Syrians. Assad should've left long ago.
Destroy all governments
Not Syrian rebels foreign fighters from Turkey Saudi Arabia and elsewhere
Hmmm my heartfelt condolences to the victims and family and may the souls of the victims rest in perfect peace
That was 100% done by Turkey as an act of war against Syria. Turkey has been engaging in a war of aggression to capture Syria territory for weeks.
Russian made helicopter, russian crew?
This was done by Turkey.
Stop framing these terrorists as 'rebels'
