Albany diocese covered up sexual abuse by priests for decades and protected clergy by sending them to private treatment instead of calling the police, former head of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany says.

The longtime former head of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany says the diocese covered up sexual abuse by priests for decades and protected clergy by sending them to private treatment instead of calling police.

“Only when a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist determined the priest was capable of returning to ministry without reoffending did we consider placing the priest back in ministry,” he added. “The professional advice we received was well-intended but flawed, and I deeply regret that we followed it.”

In the past, the 82-year-old Hubbard has denied allegations that he sexually abused minors. In an August 2019 statement, he said: “I have never sexually abused anyone in my life. I have trust in the canonical and civil legal processes and believe my name will be cleared in due course.”

But the government still allows them to run non for profits like hospitals corporations. Trinity for example is a multi million dollar profit over patients corporations. So glad I renounced my Catholic religion. So disgusting yet allowed. WHY?

No? Really? Bears shit in the woods as well

So I’m guessing that the USCCB is going to withhold communion from them too.

Is there any diocese anywhere ever shown NOT to cover up sexually abusive priests and help them move on to new victims if needed? Any? The Church is inherently, totally corrupt on this issue. That, to me, amounts to evil.

Guess that’s why I am not Catholic.

The Catholic Church knows that the opportunity to abuse children is a major incentive to join the priesthood. People don't dedicate their lives to an organization for its bullshit archaic fantasies.

This is the group that hide children’s graves, hide sexual abusers and wonder why people have lost total respect for the institution. Take away the tax free status of a criminal organization

And they should put every one of them in jail as accessories

laurence8645 I doubt the Catholic Church has changed. They are still fighting against taking responsibility for the horrors committed by clergy in Canada.

These guys breed homosexuality. They get the boys when they are young. It is so sad.

Sexual abuse is a very interesting term to use in this article. It omits the concept of child victims (although nuns are assaulted as well). And, perhaps there should be another term/crime for sexual assault against a person's sexual orientation. It is a separate trauma.

U.S. Justice Dept says IRS must provide former President Donald Trump's tax returns to CongressThe U.S. Justice Department on Friday ordered the Internal Revenue Service to hand over former President Donald Trump's tax returns to a House of Representatives committee, saying the panel has offered 'sufficient reasons' for requesting the material. The department's Office of Legal Counsel reversed course and declared that the department erred in 2019 when Trump was still in office when it found that the request for his taxes by the Democratic-led House Ways and Means Committee was based on a 'disingenuous' objective aimed at exposing them to the public. 'We cannot know where receipt of the requested tax information will take the committee, any more than the committee itself can predict what it will find or determine,' wrote Acting Assistant Attorney General Dawn Johnsen for the Office of Legal Counsel. Lock him up The only time I've seen Trump since the election is when media/social media bring him into my sphere. I don't believe people aggrieved by his firey rhetoric even care to be kept abreast of his comings and goings. Thought the media felt the same way. Why won't the press move on? A lot of SH!T is about to the fan for you and your CRIMINAL kids! Donny Boy! You may want to start wearing darker colored shirts! ... I LOVE Witch Hunts!
