The Colts could have taken over first place in the AFC South. Instead, turnovers by Matt Ryan and Jonathan Taylor drop them behind Titans, Jaguars

INDIANAPOLIS — Ugly at the start, the Colts coughed up their comeback attempt with a lack of ball security to drop another game to a Tennessee team that has now had their number for too long.

The Colts now sit in third place in the AFC South as they head to Denver for a difficult Thursday night game on the road against the Denver Broncos.Ryan simply hasn’t protected the football in the pocket this season, and it cost the Colts deeply on Sunday. The same thing happened again in the second half as the Colts tried to come back. Working with room in the pocket, Ryan didn’t seem to feel Autry off to his right, lost the ball and a drive that was in field-goal range.

But it wasn’t Ryan who fumbled the third time. Working with a third-and-short, Jonathan Taylor got the yardage for the first down, but he got the ball ripped out of his hands to end a drive that had gone deep into Titans territory. For a variety of reasons, Indianapolis has gotten off to slow starts that have been excruciating this season, and outside of a muffed Kansas City punt last week, the trend has extended to Lucas Oil Stadium.Ryan fumbled away the first Indianapolis drive.

Another hole to dig out of. Once again, the hole was dug by the defense.

If you replace an aging QB that throws interceptions and fumbles with another aging QB that throws interceptions and fumbles. It’s not an upgrade. It’s not the answer. It’s time for a new future and stop eating out of the garbage can scraps of others.
