An inmate was found dead Friday inside a single-person cell at the Collin County jail.

Collin County detention officers performing inmate checks about noon found the person unresponsive on a bunk, according to the sheriff’s office. The McKinney Fire Department responded and pronounced the person dead.Officials did not provide any additional information. The Texas Rangers were investigating.

The case is the first death reported at the facility since that of Marvin Scott III, a 26-year-old who wasat the jail after being arrested on a marijuana possession charge in March. He became unresponsive and was pronounced dead at a hospital. An attorney representing Scott’s family has said he was diagnosed with schizophrenia and was suffering a mental health crisis at the time of his death. A grand jury
