In a heart-warming development, Sohail Ahmadi who was lost in the chaos of hasty Afghan evacuation last summer when he was only two months old, has been found and reunited with his relatives in Kabul

After more than seven weeks of negotiations and pleas, Hamid Safi finally handed the child back to his jubilant grandfather and other relatives still in Kabul.

When the parents faced a deep desperation, Sohail was handed over to someone who they thought was an American soldier. During the tumultuous Afghan evacuation over the summer, Mirza Ali Ahmadi who had worked as a security guard at the US embassy – and his wife Suraya feared their son would get crushed in the crowd as they neared the airport gates en route to a flight to the United States.
