India will ban the imports of 101 items of military equipment in an effort to boost indigenous production and improve self-reliance in weapons manufacturing, Singh said Sunday.
NEW DELHI — India said Sunday that it will ban the imports of 101 items of military equipment in an effort to boost local production and improve self-reliance in weapons manufacturing. The military equipment includes some high technology weapon systems and range from assault rifles and artillery to transport aircraft and light combat helicopters, the Defense Ministry said in a statement.
The government then announced that India would stop importing weapons that can be made domestically, in line with the vision to make the Indian economy self-reliant amid the coronavirus crisis.
Will we ever learn? And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. (Isaiah 2:4)
Not know that you are being confronted or are you saying the money should be used for covid?
Wise choice. None of the major weapons manufacturer nations can be trusted.
Not only defense/military equipment production but industries and manufacturing should improve within the country.
After they bought helicopters and are about to buy fighter jets? Reverse engineering ahead?
This is good.
boost coal production? World is crazy
Would that be the clean lcoal production?
The decision has merit but India's production of military weapons and hardware does not remotely come close to its foreign counterparts. The strategy seems like it will leave their military less effective
I had hopes while reading the article's title. Then I read the tweet. Erh. peace
One more drama.
Yes goverments keel yourself with weapons, but leave normal citizens off the world who dont want violence and any kind off weapons in peace
I say do it . America does it. We make a whole shit ton of firearms here. We are so good at it that we have a hard time keeping up demand. Right now it’s really hard to buy ammo and it’s hard to purchase firearms themselves because people love buying guns here in America.
this will make their weapons ineffective, and more expensive... let Gun manufactures compete with other gun manufacturers without all the Indian red tape and watch how good they get.
If u have the resources and expertise to launch 🚀 into space and beyond you should be able do pretty much anything
They are still shopping in international market to buy winter equipment i.e gears, clothing, tents whatever they can get for the long haul in eastern Ladakh to face China as talks reached to dead end.
India makes weapons out of coal?
Great trigger discipline.
Good call, India. Self reliance is never bad, especially when it pertains to your defense industry. If it's not sustainable during a protracted conflict, it's useless.
What is financial impact
superpower 2020 🤔 🧐 🤔
