NEW DELHI—After suffering a landslide victory by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s party, two of India’s leading opposition figures offered their resignations over the weekend. Though their party leaders refused to let them step down, the gestures reflected the severity of their defeat.
The parties had failed to persuade Indians that the populist Mr. Modi had mishandled the economy and marginalized minorities. The “anti-Modi wave” opposition parties claimed would help them back ride to power never arrived.
BJP & Modi won massive victory not because they did good work or hard-work but obscene use of Money & Media polarization dividing people on religious line spreading confusions. it is the bias Media that does propaganda publicity work for BJP, tarnish image of opposition leader.
Why parties reject their leaders’ offer to resign, when election results have made it clear that they are not trusted in public? Accept their resignations and pick new leaders.
Smart politicians in India. The Democrat Party in America needs to take note on how rejection should be dealt with by elected officials.
